Two hundred and fifty kilometers outside of Marrakech, after the pass of Tizi n\'Tichka, with its valleys so varied and extraordinary, appears the Valley of Roses. Its eye-catching kasbah draws one’s attention to the contrasts of the landscape where the reddened earth and vibrant green vegetation rival against one another on the same natural canvass. Dades Boumalne marks the entrance of the gorges which are just as attractive as they are bizarre. Further upstream, the route begins to escape alongside beautiful oases and palm trees. Merzouga appears fifty kilometers from Erfoud in the heart of Tafilalet, and at the foot of the grand dune of Erg Chebbi. This village, which appears to be sunken into the dunes, is the starting point of the camel treks and night bivouacs which take place in the sand, to the rhythm of nomadic music. Further along, the pre-Saharan oasis fray up towards the valley of Drâa; where the river of the same name moves delicately between desert landscapes and lush oases.
